Next to You 03:32
You’re dreaming of him but he’s not the one lying next to you. You wake in a sweat, look around, think “what am I supposed to do?” Get out of the bed and into the car but the roads are all sinking in. The earth gave out so you’re giving up. You might as well start drinking… again ‘cause it clouds your memories of family and friends. If they’re not around who are they to be taking up space in your head? Tired of all these sleepless nights so you sleep with a friend. Hazy thoughts, empty mind, “is this how it ends?” You don’t know yourself, don’t know if you’re alive or if you’re dead. Maybe you’re embarrassed, maybe that’s why your face is all red. Or maybe it’s the bottle you lie next to in bed. Maybe it’s the battles you have inside your own head. Maybe it’s all those battles in your head. Just close your eyes, lay on your side and let those thoughts fall out of your head. Close your eyes, lay on your side, let those thoughts fall out of your head. Close your eyes and say goodnight. Go to bed. Go to bed.

Daylight 03:05
Turn on the light, it’s too dark. The ship set sail, it fell apart. I’m searching for land and a beating heart in the dark. In the dark. There’s two of each kind, kind in the ark, so you’re never alone, alone or apart. A glimmer of light that shines in the dark… Is that your beating heart? Your beating heart? Light in the distance, there’s land in sight. A lighthouse in view glows in the night to the beat of a heart. The beat of a heart in the dark. Is that your beating heart? Your beating heart? You turned on the light when it got dark. My ship set sail, I fell apart. But I’ve found land, a beautiful sight. It was you, daylight. A welcome sunrise.

Song No. 2 02:29
A pitch black stare, I can see the loss in your eyes. Soft touch of your hair, I guess you showered tonight. I read the curves in your back as you move left to right. Like you wait to attack seemingly out of spite. The minutes pass by like translucent dreams. And you might be right, you’re not as right as you think. I don’t want to fight. See, I’m still too green. Looks like you’ve won here tonight. Got my king with your queen.

A Good Man 04:05
My body’s still sore from my last night with you. You crave the attention so I do what I have to. You wanted my heart, body’s the best that I can do. I kissed someone’s lips but didn’t see you today. You say I’m a good man. I’ve had better days. You say I’m a good man but where does that get me? Your bed? Or Your heart? But what does that make me… when I fuck it all up? When it all falls apart? You say I’m a good man, but I don’t have a heart. You say I’m a good man, but I don’t have a heart. See, I was a good man once. But I’ve fallen apart.

Been on the road, don’t know where I’ll be. Headed up the coast, gone from New York City. On the train, watch the world go by. On the train, singing lullabies… ‘cause I can’t sleep. I need your sound. I can’t sleep if you’re not around. Don’t worry about me. I was lost, I’ve been found. I’ll find peace of mind on the way ‘cause I’ll be home before the end of the day. With any luck, she’ll be waiting for me.

Christian Bitto Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

"After giving Bitto’s EP, The September Call-Up, a listen, his voice instantly reminded me of Oliver Sim from London’s indie band The XX, while the instrumentals made me think of softer Brand New and Jimmy Eat World, as well as the clean reverb effect given by Chris Isaak’s Gretsch 6120." -Vinyl Mag ... more
