You wake in a sweat, look around, think “what am I supposed to do?” Get out of the bed and into the car but the roads are all sinking in. The earth gave out so you’re giving up. You might as well start drinking… again ‘cause it clouds your memories of family and friends. If they’re not around who are they to be taking up space in your head? Tired of all these sleepless nights so you sleep with a friend. Hazy thoughts, empty mind, “is this how it ends?” You don’t know yourself, don’t know if you’re alive or if you’re dead. Maybe you’re embarrassed, maybe that’s why your face is all red. Or maybe it’s the bottle you lie next to in bed. Maybe it’s the battles you have inside your own head. Maybe it’s all those battles in your head. Just close your eyes, lay on your side and let those thoughts fall out of your head.
